There are many different types of bloggers in the world. There are your professional bloggers (those who make a living off blogging), your enthusiast bloggers (those who don’t make enough for a living but love doing it and post often), and your weekend bloggers (those who release a couple of posts every now and then) . During the summer I definitely fell into the enthusiast blogger category. I was posting 1-2 articles a day and about two tutorials per week on Easy C Tutorials. I couldn’t come close to releasing as many articles as Pro Blogger or John Chow because I had a full time job and I don’t make enough money to do this full time.

With the end of summer and the beginning of the fall heralds in a new schedule for my life: University. Come September many bloggers have to deal with a new school year, whether it be middle-school, high school or university and for some it can severely hurt your blogging patterns. Below are a few tips on how to manage your blogging schedule and your university schedule.

  • Plan Your Post Titles:
Every weekend I sit down and jot out a few ideas for posts that I’d like to write. I’ll generally produce 10-15 ideas and write them out on a scrap piece of paper. Throughout the week I’ll choose whichever I feel like writing about and crank them out. Writing down your ideas helps you to stay organized. If you think of your post titles while you have free time then you don’t need to waste your precious free time during the weekdays when you have class and such. I also find that if I have all of the post titles laid out for me that I’m much more motivated to write something than if I have to think of a totally new subject.
  • Plan Your Day:
    Connor Wilson
is a fantastic blogger who’s blog I read every day. He writes a post almost every single day and is extremely regimented. He recently talked about his daily schedule for blogging and I was amazed. Planning your day like Connor does is an excellent way to keep both your blogging life and University life organized. If you know that you’re going to have class from 8:30am until 3:30pm and then work on homework for the next few hours then maybe you could wake up early and jot down a few ideas, then come back at night once you have free time and write an article in 30minutes to an hour. I personally generally post early in the morning but I write my articles the night before. I do this to proof read but you can do whatever works for you.
  • Pre-Date Your Articles:
If you have a free day during the week capitalize of this time and write a couple of articles. If you’re using Wordpress as your blogging platform you can pre-date your posts. This means that you can write your post on monday, set the timestamp to Thursday and click “Publish”. Your post won’t appear until the date in the timestamp. I use this feature quite a bit because I do a lot of my writing on days where I have a lot of time. I’ll write two to three articles in a single day and then release them over the next few days.
  • Get Some Friends to Blog:
This one is quite straightforward, the more writers you have the less work you’ll have to do to meet your blogging goals. If you want to release a post per day and you have three people writing this means you only need to write something once every three days. Be careful with inviting other people to write though especially if the posts reflect your name. If you get a bad writer then it’ll look bad on your part. Because this blog is under my name and I personally don’t really like guest blogging or inviting others to blog on your site I don’t really practice this, but I do know a few that do and it does cut down on their time blogging.

Except for inviting friends to blog I practice every single point that I said and I can tell you that it works. I’m currently in school full time (doing great) and posting as much as possible. Hopefully these tips can help you organize your blogging so you can both post and be a student at the same time.
